Workforce Planning Hamilton is pleased to release our 2012 Labour Market Plan. This plan reviews labour market activity in 2011 and presents an action plan for 2012-13 to address priority issues.

Workforce Planning Hamilton (WPH) seeks a Projects and Data Analysis Coordinator to manage special projects; analyze Statistics Canada, survey and other data; organize project-related events and support the day-to-day activities of the organization. WPH is a community-based organization that supports labour market planning and development in the community. We work in partnership with a broad range of stakeholders including the business, labour and other community partners to identify challenges and solutions to priority workforce development issues in Hamilton.

Thank you to the 12 job seekers, who came out to the March 26th Networking Club. Here’s a recap of the session: Our Job Developers explained their role at Goodwill. Volunteering was discussed as a way of gaining access into a workplace or filling in gaps in your resume. A video titled “Get A Job” was watched. Speaking skills, “elevator speeches”, marketing yourself were other topics explored as well.

Please join us next week, on Monday, April 2nd at 9:30am for an opportunity to network among fellow job seekers and meet our Job Developers Chris Wade and Sharon Bene.

Please join us for the launch of the WISE5 project report on Tuesday, March 20th from 2:30 pm.- 4:30 pm. at the Small Business Enterprise Centre, City Hall, 71 Main Street West. Hamilton.

Wise5 is a research project focusing on five communities in southwestern Ontario: Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Niagara, and Windsor.

This event may be of special interest to ESL instructors, employment counselors and ESL students.

Newcomer Serving Partner - Important Survey

Dear Newcomer Serving Partner,

Thank you for attending the Strengthening Newcomer Services marketplace event on October 21st, 2011, at the Scottish Rite. We were delighted to see so many front line workers networking and connecting with each other.

We have been conducting focus groups with several communities of immigrants and newcomers to better understand the information, service, and access needs of those communities. Findings from these focus groups will be included as part of our final report in May, 2012.
