Community Connections - Mental Health Presentation

Individuals with mental illness face the highest degree of stigmatization in the workplace, and the greatest barriers to employment. Adults with psychiatric disabilities may experience the following employment obstacles: gaps in work history, limited employment experience, lack of confidence, fear and anxiety, workplace discrimination and inflexibility, social stigma and the rigidity of existing income support/benefit programs.

The Mental Health presentation being offered this week will cover the basics of how each mental health counsellor works with individuals, the services that they provide and assistance that is available for employment.

This session is ideal for clients as well as service providers.

Career Cruising is a fun online career assessment that assesses skills and interests, and then provides participants with suggestions on what careers they may be interested in researching further. Once they have completed the assessment, they will use this website to research the job descriptions, earnings, requirements such as education, career path, working conditions and event related careers they never thought about!
