The TRI-Rock program is an employment training program funded by the federal government through Service Canada and is:

- For young people aged 18-30 facing significant barriers to entry into the workplace such as a lack of high school education or relevant work experience. Participants cannot have collected or be collecting Employment Insurance (EI) nor can they have already participated in a federally funded work program.

- An 18 week fully paid program, done in two phases.

Phase I is at the Living Rock’s facility and involves youth working 35 hours a week – with 8 hours a week focusing on employment and life skills and 27 hours a week of hand-on practical work – sanitation, stock control in the food bank, reception duties and all aspects of food preparation in our kitchen. In addition candidates will attain essential certifications in First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights, Safe Food Handlers’, WHMIS and in some cases Smart Serve and Fork Lift.

Phase II is a subsidized job placement in the community. Both the employer and the candidate are continually supported by the TRI-Rock employment coach to ensure a successful transition. 90% of candidates are retained permanently by the employer upon completion of the subsidized phase.

Once the candidate has successfully completed phase 1 and 2 he/she will receive a $500 bonus cash bonus.
